My name is Bill Shott, I started painting houses when I was 16yrs old. My Grandpa Bob who was a navy painter helped instill the passion for painting that I still have today. One fun fact about Bob, he was your basic painter 4in brush and maybe a roller; he never used tape. His advise to me as a young boy; if I was to be a great painter I had to learn to not use tape to cut my lines in and let the brush do the work.
When I was 20 I moved to the Gallatin valley in 1987. I started work with my dad, Bill Sr as a brick mason. We built our share of fire places and other stone jobs in Big Sky in and around Meadow Village and Hidden Village.
After two years of masonry work, I wanted to learn a new trade and I moved on to Gibson Guitar where I started at the bottom and worked my way in a supervisor position. In the 6yrs I worked at Gibson, I specialized in fine finish work.
When the opportunity arose to gain additional experience, I ran the spray booth for
Montana furniture, specializing in wood finish and staining. This allowed to me to transfer to MSU and become an on campus painter.
However, I wanted to more and that's when Shott Painting and Drywall was born! I believe in hard work, honesty and doing things the correct way!
When not painting, I spend my time time with my wife Linda and my 3 kids exploring the Montana wilderness!
